When I would go into the high Sierra, the wildflowers were pervasive and breathtaking. Little ponds everywhere with golden trout and fresh granite surrounded by cool matts of lawn like vegetation.

My first experiences with alaska were similiar, but what you soon become aware of is that the flora and fauna are much less diverse.

In Southeast we have only two tress for all practical purposes. Hemlock and spruce and lader if you want to call that a tree.

And no grass. Just moss. I miss grass and crickets and that wonderful grass fragrance on a warm summer night.
