The BOD is supposed to represent the interests of the shareholders. However, that has become a joke as capitalism in the US has become more corrupt. As a consequence, the BOD are not doing their job and tend to reinforce poor mgmt instead of stopping it. Boeing executives should not be getting any bonuses because they are over a year late getting the 787 into production. Instead, the BOD has approved more bonuses for those execs. As much as it pains me to say this, I think you are right. I suspect we agree on a number of issues. I don't want American industry to be socialized or nationalized. I don't want to see the oligarchs take over industry like they did in the USSR and run them like feudal lords of the past. At the same time, I do see problems with American industry. The BODs of many companies have become an extension of the CEOs, rubber stamping every move the CEO makes. As a consequence, salaries have become exorbitant and golder parachutes obscene. Bad CEOs are rewarded generously for their incompetency. Companies like GM are allowed to run into the ground. And let me assure you, GM and Chrysler are not the only two companies that have been damaged by poor mgmt. Look at GE.....the cornerstone of American industry.......it was down to $5+ just a couple of weeks ago. Rs are not doing us any favors by fighting Obama on his every move and pretending everything is find if he would just stop. That is not helping the country one iota. Obama ain't perfect......if the Rs see him doing something wrong, point it out constructively. Following Rush's crude lead, does no one any good and will not get Obama's ear.
