IMO, this was a very smart move by MSNBC -- they continue to recruit progressive TV show anchors with star power (first Olbermann, then Maddow, and now Schultz).

I watched that! It's going to be great TV for we news hounds.
I like Ed, and bet his contract is sweet.

Ed Shultz is an interesting character in this ongoing Darwinian liberal talk show / Cable News movement. I personally like the guy a lot, I'd say a 7.5/10. While many liberal talk shows tend toward factual lecture, he is growing as an entertaining listen too; the hallowed ground and mind virus vector that Limbaugh has owned for two decades. In the Bay Area, Shultz's radio show is tape-delayed to the afternoon and I must admit, given the choice, I would listen to Thom Hartmann if they were live head-to-head. I like the morning lecture, but I hardly reflect the majority of this country's males.

My Code Pink friends tend to really hate Shultz, they think he's a right wing male a-hole. He talks about FOOTBALL!!! And HUNTING. He wants people to purchase (U.S. built) automobiles. He just isn't radical enough for old Berkeley (smile.) Then again, I saw Micheal Moore during his TV-Nation days, get blasted here in a talk, due to his using television for his message, and his wanting to bring back automobile jobs to Detroit. Ewwwwww, cars and TV!!!

BTW, I hate Berkeley. BTW, I love Berkeley. LOL!!!

The bottom line is that if Shultz reaches the segment that the Orwellian Republican's invented "Joe The Plumber" to capture, I say "right on Ed, brotha!!!" I'm gonna watch his show too, we shall see.

I wonder if GE corporate, who owns NBC, will be "conflicted" over Shultz's passionate Union positions? Wouldn't surprise me if he got muzzled in sensitive union contract times.

Now. . . On the subject of Talkers. . . These are my 10/10 shows. I could watch or listen to Olbermann and Maddow all day long. I think Ring-of-Fire on Air America is almost as good on weekends as A's baseball or Cal Football (from me, a "ringing" endorsement.) if you have never heard it, listen to the stream sometime.

BTW, from the Wikipedia page and her homepage, the Randi Rhodes drama apparently continues, I am speculating she is dealing with some ongoing personal issues beyond her contractual confrontation with Nova-M. (can anyone shed some light on this mystery??) I hope she returns soon, God she is THE powerhouse. What a mind. The NEW Molly Ivins. (RIP.) Partisan to her ideas, not to party. In a sense, she is the Ann Coulter from the progressive movement, with an IQ at least 50 points higher, and superior comedy instincts and delivery.
