I really don't know how anyone who is paying attention can make such a remark.

With both GM and DCX begging for money, it is just astonishing that you would be claiming "industry has broken the backs" of the unions. To any reasonable observer, precisely the opposite is true.

I think you have it backwards. Unions broke the back of industries they operated in, and some industries have completely left the US.
