My great-grandmother Helene rented a home in Hollywood early in 1911 and finished building her new home in what is now West Hollywood in the Fall of 1913.

Her husband remained in Moscow and remarried. His daughter by the second marriage, a physician in Moscow, was a frequent visitor to see the extended family in Paris in the 1970s after she had retired and had became the director of a museum in Moscow.

Her sister Marie married and continued living in Paris, where she had attended the Sorbonne with my great-grandmother. Their parents retired to their home in Lausanne in 1916. Their brother Michael was the last to move his family to Paris in 1922 leaving the farms to his manager and collectivization.

Object lesson of the day - diversify.
