Old News from A Greenspan, Alan Greenspan, the US Federal Reserve head, has warned of the risk to the global system of this South-East Asian situation. At the 15th Annual Monetary Conference of the Cato Institute (14th October 1997) he said: "There is a clear sense that the new technologies, and the financial instruments and techniques they have made possible, have strengthened interdependencies between markets and market participants, both within and across national boundaries...
