We can now see that the pension funds owned stocks but did not overlook thier money well.

In some cases, they let their companies become socialist as the case of carmakers F, GM and Chrysler show. In short managing the companies for the employees rather than to turn a profit. See how they are bankrupt because of high promises they amde to the employees and the younger ones did not block that. And did not because the older generation 'owned' the firms.
