m.n.,

Nice to hear from you. I remember now that you are indeed correct and it was Kundalini yoga I was describing. I took a class in Kundalini in Honolulu when I lived there in 1973. My allergies are quite severe so trying to get air through my nose was nearly impossible. When it got through it was often followed by sneezing fits, as I was sitting on a bamboo mat that I was probably allergic to. It was indeed a young American Sikh who taught it.

I think there is a Vepasana Center near where I live, perhaps in Marin county. I went to a class once in Oakland and thought the technique wasn't much different from TM. It seemed you were supposed to pay attention to your breath instead of a mantra. Maybe I'll give it another try, as you seem to say there's more to it.

That Jewish grandmother, Sylvia Boorstein, who wrote a book on Zen called, "It's Easier Than You Think, was in the area recently and I think the place that sponored her wanted $16 from anyone who wanted to hear her speak. That was a bit of a turn off. I think I'll stick with the donation-as-you-see-fit types of teachers.

Hi m.n. muench, I would like to say I enjoy your posts around SI. Some of your responses to weirdness on EC's thread are priceless.
Question to all; have any of you studied Rene Guenon, Ananda Coomarswamy or Frithjof Schuon?
