Drug prices would likely drop with legalization since the criminal-transport premium would be gone; distribution would happen through legal companies instead of street corner dealers, ending the need to shoot up your competition to gain territory or market share, and so on.

Without drug money as a motive, gangs may find other reasons to be violent and territorial anyway, just for its own sake. But removing the rewards for drug violence would be a really nice start.

What would inner cities look like if you could buy neat packets of marijuana at a liquor store with a major national brand label? Gotta be better than now.
