Maybe at least we can stop prosecuting pot heads. Seems the legal system should find more effective targets to improve our safety.

That would be a good start. But from a public policy point of view, if our current laws and enforcement mechanism permit a multibillion trade in harder drugs to continue, and it's not realistic to think we can stop it with more enforcement or education, shouldn't we find a better solution that tacitly condoning an industry that provides billions to the worst murderous scum in our criminal ranks?

It really makes no sense at all. We let our politicians promise to change it all and they never do, not after four decades of drug wars by both parties. It's tilting at windmills and everyone knows it. Why let it go on?
