Old geezers have held to the money but have not provided an adequate return on that money. Thus capital will seek where it can get a return on its investment, which is in the emerging markets.

The squandering of wealth we saw in Tech bubble, and housing bubble shows that that capital should have been in the emerging markets for a long long time.
