My dad is pretty active... actually very active so this was a surprise as he noticed no symptoms.. He was 80% blocked the first time also and they did 5 bypass.. Most irksome to him is that he never smoked, not a big drinker, not overweight, and has gone years without his favourite foods..

As I write this I'm thinking oh.. that's likely one of the Ca health risks maybe LindyBill meant.. since calcium is a plaque component.

Anyway they cannot do anything about a new bypass (they think it may be problematic anyway to find places to graft the new ones) until the valve issue is revolved. It's a chicken and egg scenario.. They won't do a standard valve replacement because of the arterial blockage and cannot address the blockage until the valve is addressed.. Hence the CoreValve option.. where the valve is inserted via catheter/stent.. heart-valve-surgery.com
