AMD never was viewed as a serious player in servers until Opteron came along. But the server market does not turn on a dime. You assume that right after Opteron came out, it should have been adopted right away by all the major server OEMs, but that assumption flies in the face of reality.

I tried in vain to explain this one too. What is standard procedure in the industry, the slow adoption of a new architecture from a new player, is viewed as confirmation of coercion by AMD's competition.
