PC Owners Buying More Software, Says Report

The percentage of PC owners buying new software is increasing. Twenty-seven percent of all computer-owning households purchased software in late 1996 and early 1997, an increase of six percentage points compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the latest Consumer Purchase Study from The NPD Group.

Always an important purchase driver, price is emerging as more critical than ever in attracting consumers, the study found. Over 16% of those surveyed said it was the most important factor influencing their software purchase.
