It's the difference between explicit and implicit protection. It's not rocket science, and even the USDOJ Antitrust Division says it's so.

If only consumers were protected by antitrust laws, and competitors were not entitled to any relief from abusive monopolies, why allow them to file antitrust lawsuits and claim damages?
