My problem with the libertarian claptrap, is when the pleasure of others injures their neighbors. Now that's a problem.

As any "reasonable" person should be - even though I'm probably a "gun nut" by any measure - I had to tell my neighbor to stop shooting on his property as I live down range and it scares the kids and their girlfriends - not to mention I duck a lot while mowing the lawn. :-)

I tried calling police four or five times and nothing happened so I finally just knocked on his door and he hasn't shot since. Did I feel like a hypocrite a little - yes - but it was such an obvious safety issue, as much as I support his right to own - I do not support him shooting on his land endangering others. Now if he builds an underground range or a very thick concrete building - I'd join him!

I don't know anyone dead from firearms, but I have one dead brother, one recovering and another trying hard to kill himself from alcohol. I also have friends who have lost children to drunk drivers - you could say I have a big issue with the huge numbers of irresponsible drinkers.
