Many are the times I found sites just like you describe in upstate New York when I worked there in the 60s. Stone fences that once bordered a field running through the middle of the woods, graveyards, houses, apple orchards, and all sorts of evidence that someone had been there before, and in some respects are still there.

Hello all.

We left the hustle and bustle of Rome yesterday and headed for Orvieto. It was a real relief to get to a small town. Had the best meal of the trip last night at a small restaurant there. The Orvieto Classico Vino Bianco is also outrageously good and cheap (got a great bottle for 3 euro).

Were in Siena tonight and are headed for Vernazza in Cinque Terre tomorrow.

I have been taking lots of photos, but dont have the ability to upload them at the moment.

Ciao!
