There were many signs of panic last year. 12 straight months of job losses in 08. A bad Christmas season in 07. Terrible motor vehicle sales in 08. Panic in the housing market. Business closings. If you didn't see panic, you were not looking.

I did not see panic last year. You did? People started to become more concerned after the huge job losses came month after month...the markets tanked...

You don't think the bank freeze-up in October was the panic? I'm not sure why you are trying to pretend that didn't happen, but it surely did. It was then that people were in PANIC. Now there is more of a depressed acceptance that as of October our lives were forever changed. By virtually any measurement, people are more optimistic now as to the direction our country is going. .......
