Well that's my point, the zone defense is stupid. Collect the ships at a collection point and escort a group of ships with one warship. This isn't rocket science, this is a simple convoy exercise. Obviously there aren't enough Naval assets to escort 1 ship per Naval vessel. They should also put marines on some U.S. flagged vessel's too. If enough Pirates start getting caught (and they should be hanged as well) or killed , that would stop the hijackings. Also, if I was a merchant marine, I'd want to at least have small arms at the ready if there were potential boarders.
