a general question....posted to you Oral, because I know you were in the navy.

On the whole somalian piracy thing. Why wouldn't the shipping companies hire two Blackwater type security guards who know how to use high powered rifles for every ship? The large ships have the high ground and should be able to repel any attack with nominal firepower. The cost would be minimal compared to the ransoms being paid and the lost revenues from the delayed shipments.

Videotape everything so that it is clear that the pirates attacked first and then sink the fuckers. What am I missing?

Is this just another example of a worldwide culture where it is considered a bad thing to protect oneself?

It just doesn't make sense to me
