"It's REALLY stupid for the Democrats to vote for the war because the polls told them to.."

They were spineless. They were being called anti-American, traitors, troop haters, etc. They caved.

Ted, > How the hell do you think Bush got to invade Iraq?

It's REALLY stupid for the Democrats to vote for the war because the polls told them to, then bad mouth the war every step of the way.

Come on, Ten, you have a very selective memory. They supported the war well into 2005. I know because I was furious. They didn't start to really turn until the 2006 mid term elections. Bush had a free ride and it made me sick.

Even after the Democrats gained control of Congress, they voted for war funding because the polls told them to, and because they were afraid Bush would paint them as being against supporting our troops.

Of course, they voted for war funding. Did they have a choice? How politically sound was it for them to leave American soldiers high and dry in Iraq? Give me a break.
