<<Among SyQuest's pungent new offerings: a 2.5-Gbyte, $600 SyJet designed to fix Iomega's little red wagon . . .>>

Rocky,

I am new to the thread, but am definitely a proponent of free speech. Thus, I believe you should have the right to express dissenting opinions on any thread you choose.

However, I don't see how you can get excited about these future new products from Syquest. First of all, as you know, just because they may show them at Comdex, the actual release of the product could be months, if not years, off.

Secondly, what makes you think that the market leader (Iomega) will just stand around and let market share erode should Syquest make any inroads? Check out your American business history. With one fell swoop, Iomega could crush Syquest (should they care enough to do so).

Do you really think $16 MM in advertising will go that far? That amount of money is peanuts.

I have not responded to your posts before, especially when Iomega hit an intraday low of $22 a little while back. I prefer to let the course of events take place and show who the winners (and losers) are.

The past week has clearly shown that Iomega (us) is (are) the winners and Syquest (you) is (are) the losers.

Here's some advise: instead of shooting off your mouth just to get a rise out of people, why don't you wait until Syquest actually makes a profit, and then say "I told you so"

Wouldn't that ultimately be the best revenge?

Rocky, don't get ugly with our resident 13-year old. We've been all through it before. Those who want to believe, will believe. Those who don't won't. It's not something to get your knickers in a twist over.

Re Syjest.

There is something odd about announcing a 2.5GB removable for $600 at the same time as a 4.7 GB removable. Won't one undercut the other?

And what will the 4.7 GB cost? $1000? $1200? You won't find many consumers willing to pay that kind of buckage for storage, IMO.

When you thing about it, hasn't just that kind of clumsy marketing been the hallmark of SYQT thus far?
