I listened to Chan also. He kept claiming that ESS had over 50% of the VCD market in China. He said better sound and video would just make VCD look/sound better. He said features would make VCD 3.0 a better product. He thinks he can charge 30-60% more for 3.0 chips. In Q4 and Q1, VCD is a 13M to 15M unit market. Cube has over 60% as we enter holiday season. No factories will shut down to change to new products until after Chinese New Year. Any backward compatible VCD up grade won't confuse customers, and both standards are. China will see Super VCD, maybe even some VCD 3.0.
