True - yet you are free to vote any way you choose - even if it's guided by your faith. The separation was written to exclude government from selecting a religion more than the other way around based on historical experience with a previous government lead by a King who was also head of the church. The children reference was a historical reference - don't read more into than was written. Gay sex was the norm or common in biblical and roman times - marriage between them never was - "come in so that we may know you" is not an invite to have tea. :-)
