re SVU, SWY -when adjusting for leverage SWY is almost as cheap as SVU (EV/EBITDA for both about 4.6). My concern with both is that they could become value traps where earnings of these companies will not grow much even with a recovery.

Todays rally was not for me - actually quite a few of my stocks are down. Up only 1% overall.

SUPERVALU INC (NYSE: SVU) nudged into my top ten holdings based on it's recent move higher. PBR and GLW got pushed back to #11 and #10. I am still heavy weighted with oil companies (CVX, ERF, COP, XOM) as they represent 53% of the value in my top ten core holdings. 35% of my top ten are represented by basic material resource and mining companies and 6% each in Technology (GLW) and Retail (SVU).

Supervalu Inc. reports earnings for its fiscal fourth quarter on Thursday 4/23. The 50 DMA has been coming down and is now around $15.40. OBV has been moving higher since it reached it's low on the sell off on 3/2/2009. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expect the company to earn 79 cents per share on revenue of $10.86 billion for the quarter.

I am looking at consolidating some of my other fifty positions to up my % holdings in the Technology Sector. I currently have positions in MSFT, INTC, NOK, HPQ, JAVA, VRGY, MOT, and GLW.

Are there any in this group you find as extreme value opportunities? I am tempted to add to MSFT. I am also looking at ORCL, AMAT, IBM and A.

Any suggestions from the value crowd?

Supervalu appoints Wal-Mart leaders as its CEO
Grocer Supervalu appoints Wal-Mart executive Herkert as CEO
Wednesday May 6, 2009, 1:50 pm EDT
finance.yahoo.com

From the article:"...At Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Herkert has served as president and CEO of its Americas region since 2004. Before Wal-Mart, he worked with American Stores and Albertsons companies, as well as other grocers...."
----------------------------------------------------------------

Should be long term positive for the company. The stores cherry picked from the recent Albertson's purchase now have a good manager to make these properties more profitable. As the company whittles down their debt, more value should accrue to the common stock.
