Sigh: There is a huge gulf between educated and informed. 2008 was ample proof of that.

People don't like to be wrong about their choices and will cling to their decisions even in the face of strong contrary evidence.

The benefit we had with Bush is that his opponents were so bad that, despite his flaws, he was the better alternative each time. We didn't have to love him or make up excuses for everything he did even if we did not agree.

Obama supporters, by contrast, elected a cypher, and did so on faith. They need him to be what they thought they were electing. Unless the media bears down, the bad news won't penetrate those kinds of defenses.

I cling to the hope that individual circumstances will dictate a change of heart. For example, when Obama's programs turned out to be more radical than he disclosed, fees and taxes on the middle class were raised, and jobs were lost.
