Bush wanted everyone to be wealthy, obama wants everyone to be poor...

What Bush "wanted" and what he did or did not achieve may end up as a debate for a long time to come. Presiding over the beginning (not the end, but a huge beginning) of today's debt disaster, with assets inflated far beyond real value and spending wildly out of control hardly seems a way to get people to be wealthy. There had to be a reackoning. It is here....and now the medicine may be worse than the disease. <g>.

I look at the (CBA estimate) multi-trillion Medicare Drug Program. Passed by republicans with no revenue increase to cover it. In hindsight, did we need it? Wasn't it just the kind of bread and circuses everybody opposes now?

Would republicans vote to eliminate it...and its billions of dollars of cost every year into the future?

How about Medicare cuts? Social Security?

How wealthy did Bush want people to be piling debt on the load which inevitably had to be paid...and asking for no current revenue increase to pay it? As the cost of debt compounds, decision become harder. Choices on where to cut to ge to the meat more limited. Hardly good government....and he may have helped Obama mightedly in his goal, as you stated it above.

What Bush "wanted" and how he managed the enterprise he had to deliver on that "want" leave much to be desired. The economic growth figures for 2004-8 are now being revised to reflect the inflated values of some componentes....most of us have already felt the impact of such restated values in our portfolios. Such wealth builidng policies were perhaps not all they were claimed to be at the time?

And they produced Obama...no question about it.

"Bush wanted everyone to be wealthy, Obama wants everyone to be poor...." Incredible that any one could believe such a thing. I fear for our future.
