If Bush wanted "everybody to be wealthy", why did he spend far more money than the government took in...thereby beginning the inevitable reckoning we now face?

And, yes, I think Social Security and Medicare will both be "cut" in the future. I define a cut the way the republicans define "cuts" in military budgets....slowing of the level of future increases. I expect changes in the COLA used, in the tax structure and some form of modified means test....

I would not surprise me to see people who make more than $300,000 limited to receiving a Social Security benefit equal to the annualized value of their lifetime contributions.....to be popped up to normal levels when their income drops.

Wouldn't suprise me at all.

Medicare is a tougher nut, both actuarily and otherwise.

Dump the stupid, expensive, bloated drug program today. Let people get their own drugs. Did we really need that unfunded boondogle? Talk about making people dependent on government.....Shorty should hate that program.
