There's language around the idea too. To "Go Troppo" is an old expression which describes what happens to some corporate wallahs if sent to work in the Pacific Islands for too long. There's also the expression to "Go native" which means a similar thing.

It's not much of a stretch of imagination to think that a child growing up in Bombay will have a different mindset from a child growing up in Eketahuna or Yellowknife. Sure enough, they do.

Finns get SAD [seasonal affective disorder] because their pineal glands lack light for much of the year and being snowbound doesn't help.
