US could have managed the move from away from the USD as the only reserve currency. But depend too much on it. Now the world move out of the USD without the US controlling that move.

While a bunch of old empires died out in Europe, the US took the money and ran!

I always admired the US for that.

Otomans, Romanofs, Habsburgs, Brits to the throat of the French, rotten Portuguese and Spanish empires in tatters...

And the US creating the biggest economy on earth. It does not surprise that the US treat economics as Cosa Nostra always want to do their own thing.

They felt they were not part of that old guard dying out. Us unleash bandidoes in the Wild West with the most lethal weapons at the time. Unleash Robber Barons.

Lawlessness at its best while Europeans philosophied about economics they were doing stuff.

It took 100 years plus to challenge that power. No wonder they are not used to be on their knees and the other guy opening the fly...
