Bottom line. Are the churches turning a blind eye to what is going on? are they playing Pontius Pilot?

Let's see, if they get in to politics too much, the Dems want to take their non-profit status away, if they don't preach on these ills, they are turning a blind eye.

Personally, I do not want daily crap like this in my Church. Church speaks of lifting others up, of lifting oneself up to a higher standard, to helping those in need, to offer to show them a path to righteousness. It is theirs to accept.

I really would not want to go to church and hear one word, specifically, mentioning Muslims, illegal aliens, or anything else. I don't consider it a blind eye.

Most people can take the sermon message and apply it outside the context it was preached in and use it in daily life.

When our Church came out as open and affirming, the sermon that Sunday happened to be on judging others. I commented to the preacher about how it was very smart and not so subtle sermon based on the General Synod announcement. He told me that the Liturgical calendar was to preach on judging others and had nothing to do with the announcement. However, there were a lot of confused and angry people in church that day. The sermon mentioned nothing of the announcement, but went on to discuss judging others, judging yourself and who Jesus will judge. People left not as angry or confused. Sermons can apply without mentioning day to day fights and politics.
