From that article it sounds like Obama wouldn't authorize military force unless there appeared to be an imminent threat to the hostage.

hmmm.

Hooray for Obama! He authorized the process and it was a great outcome. Now people around the world will realize that Obama is quite willing to make people dead if they attack the USA/Americans.

Another good outcome is one of the pirates surrendering, fleeing the lifeboat. If he is handled right, it sends another message = "We are not like Saddam and other vicious thugs and there will be judicial process if you surrender. So it's best to surrender rather than kill hostages".

Meanwhile, here is somebody who needs a USA-issued fatwah: <Abdullahi Lami, one of the pirates holding the Greek ship anchored in the Somali town of Gaan, said: "Every country will be treated the way it treats us. In the future, America will be the one mourning and crying," he told The Associated Press. "We will retaliate (for) the killings of our men." >

Declare open-season on pirates. It should be good training for various parts of the military to get live weapon firing practise.

Islamic Jihad and criminal threats are already at full scale deflection so they can be ignored.

It's nice to get good news. Let's have more dead pirates and dead Islamic Jihadists.
