I find it difficult to accept the notion that the state of the stock market tells us much about anything other than the state of the stock market, except that perhaps any expectation of true capitulation remains unfulfilled.

There's still a great deal of baggage like option ARMs, Alt-As, and all manner of derivatives that have yet to be flushed out of the system. The last time I checked there wasn't enough bailout on the earth to resolve these much sooner than they will resolve themselves over time.

I'm watching the state of the consumer and unemployment, I think these will be key indicators of what lies ahead in the next two years to so.

As far as fear mongering goes, the other day I was refreshing my cache of bottled water and paused to reflect that I just never did load up on enough plastic sheeting and duct tape as I was supposed to when last told to do so ;-)

Thanks GZ for the link, i only now noticed the mail. i don't have the SI subscription. i am living in Canada, and i need to find etf's trading in canadian $. i did find some. one is SP500 Bull. i would prefer one that is tracking SP500. at least i started to look this way - you are right - it's safer than to buy individual stocks. just on Friday my favourite WFR warned :-( Happy Easter to you :-)
