Question: In a BBC report, they said that the Italian culture doesn't have the will/ambition [I don't remember what word they used] to seismically upgrade their historic structures. In fact, they are not willing to do the necessary architecture even with their new structures. They say that's why so many old and new structures fell during the quake in Abruzzo. Now we know how the Brits see themselves as superior to everyone else on the Continent but there does seem to be some truth to what they are saying. After all, Italians know their country is seismically active, and yet, there seems to have been little effort to upgrade their buildings. I am curious.......why do you think they are so blasé? Is it the cost or something else? I mean in L'Aquila every structure has been condemned......that's a city of 70k.

The operation and use of force was personally approved by President Obama:

That's great, but it was a rather obvious decision.

The lifeboat was drifting close to shore, and had it made it, we very likely would have seen something similar to the Blackhawk Down atrocity.

Let me know when he starts handling foreign policy in a rational manner.
