OT/ Somali pirates & US hostage : Reports are Obama authorized the use of force twice, and quickly. He kept a low profile so the professionals on the scene could handle the situation, which was exactly correct. Contrast with LBJ sticking his nose into the Mayaguez ship hijacking, asking questions of the US recon pilots doing flyovers of the ship. The captain showed admirable courage. Someone needs to make the Somalis understand that a nation that spends over 600 billion a year on defense may have both limited tolerance and the ability to make their lives much worse than they are even now.
