I've heard about a proposed Constitutional Convention in Illinois, which would be about the Illinois State Constitution. But I haven't heard anything about any national convention.

In any case, our present Constitution lays out specific ways that Amendments can be passed, and its a pretty stringent process. No convention could simply ignore the current document and start fresh, or throw out whole sections.

So there's no big movement to make it happen, and it wouldn't be possible for it to change things without the consent of both houses of Congress and three quarters of the state legislatures. I don't understand why this has become an issue for some people.
