In my opinion, Obama totally lucked out on the end of the pirate saga.

He initially failed to address it, let Holder treat it as a law enforcement problem, and then, after he'd been asked twice, finally told the military to use force if the hostage captain's life was threatened.

I'm quite sure the military decided that the captain's life was *in danger* as soon as it had its ducks in a row for the rescue. Since it turned out well, that decision will probably never be challenged, unless the trial lawyers lining up to defend the captured pirate decide to make it an issue.

Obama is just lucky that our military is well trained and that the pirates weren't Al Qaeda operatives. Then I've no doubt he would have learned that a President must be able to multi-task and that meetings over housing and domestic agenda items can't necessarily be used as a *distraction* and explanation for delay in the Presidential response to terrorist acts against Americans.

So, yeah, I'm glad he finally got around to authorizing the rescue, but even a broken clock is right twice a day.
