Why don''t you just report revenue and subtract business expenses....nothing complicated..simple arithmetic. If you're a CPA and people hire you to prepare their taxes, they generally don't come to you to find the most expensive way out for them. They generally want you to prepare the return in a legal way that computes the least amount of tax (liberals will tend to want you to break the law, as they don't really get the concept of abiding by the laws they want to impose on others). While I don't do taxes anymore if I did, I'm sure I would do what I always did which is to find the best option for my client.
