Banks are going to surprise big time, as loan loss reserves shrink this quarter. C should report a nice profit for the quarter, which should mark the end of the 5 consecutive quarters of losses. Most bank price target will get hit by the time they announce their earnings, and analysts will do their typical job of chasing prices higher for the next couple of years.

They missed the top, they defended them all the way down in 2007 and early 2008, and then puked all over them in late 2008 and early 2009. Now, they are swiftly changing all of their earnings forecasts back to profitability. Very sweet of them!
