Thanks for KALU. It exceeded my expectations which means I sold it lower. My play on ITW was a put play not a short. I actually sold them after they shot up this morning. Gotta take it when you can.

You are certainly right that betting against overvalued stocks can be futile. I just look at your old favorites CSTR and PCLN and I need to cringe. One day they need to come done but who knows.

I do think the idea to bet on some earning disasters has value, in particular with industrials - just look at SPW. Cheap out of the money index puts could work too as the bid/ask spread is only a penny or two the friction cost is much lower so they are readily tradeable.
