Paul, interesting acquisition. CSNet appears to be small, regional, suburban ISP with a specialized suite of software for schools to use in teaching students about WWW. CSNet "gives" schools the connecting hardware (modems, I presume), web software and establishes the school as an internet "Point of Presence". Then, school can reduce or eliminate its monthly access charge by its students/staff "selling" CSNet's ISP services to the "community" (sort of like Excel's network marketing concept). I doubt that WCII will continue the "pyramid" marketing part of CSNet's operations, since WCII doesn't offer residential services. Instead, WCII will probably target first the "city" schools because cities are where WCII operates and because city schools can get up to 90% of their connect charges paid by the new federal funding. Obviously, WCII is also looking at these connections as an entree to providing educational programming. But I don't see this deal as a short term profit center, though. Bill.
