I agree - Newt has too much baggage to be a Republican candidate. OTOH - slick was cheered on by the left - despite his "extra activities". For the left it seems to be sadly seen as standard practice? Hilary was the ultimate Tammy Wynette "standing by her man"!

It is too bad really as Newt is the one Republican who could articulate the argument. I see no one else with that skill.

We need someone who can unashamedly articulate the argument!

Perhaps we could get that English guy to run - citizenship seems not to be an important issue - lol.

The only way Newt could become a nationally elected leader

I disagree. The idea that the only people we elect to office must have spotless backgrounds was thrown into the scrap heep long ago.

If we can elect someone with a radical past like Obama and someone with a criminal past like Clinton then we can elect someone with personal foibles in his past like Newt.

I know almost nothing of Newts relationship with his ex-wife, but I'm not going to let that negate the fact that IMO Newt might be a good President. She could have been a living nightmare for all I know.... besides, is there some rule or law somewhere (anywhere) that disallows divorce with a cancer patient? Who knows, she may have wanted a divorce as much as he......

Both of which I find repulsive.

There was no one more repulsive than BJ Billy and he got elected twice....his past foibles may be a small negative for Newt but I don't think it would keep him from getting elected....I think he is the best candidate on the right...

The only way Newt could become a nationally elected leader is if there were a real crisis...

I think we're there.
