I have students who are long term illegal aliens. They go back and forth constantly. Nice kids- but they don't get much of an education, unless they are really determined. I have a couple going on to community college- unless the colleges ask for citizenship papers. I've no idea if they do or not.

The few I knew personally came back every year - he and his brothers were building nice homes in Mexico and had no plans to stay in the USA - just a means to an end. As much as I liked them - they were breaking the law, we had no idea if they're wanted sex offenders or child molesters. Immigration or work visas or any other program must start with real ID and knowing who they are - we can always adjust and argue the numbers of visas later.
