It's great to recycle, OK? I recycle when I can.

I'd love to recycle my cardboard, which is one of the two things they don't take at the recycle bin next to the fire station one mile away. The other thing they don't take is plastic water and soda bottles. They do take milk bottles and newsprint, glass and metal cans, which I have very little of.

My brother works in a pulp mill where they recycle cardboard; he says he'll take all I can bring. Only trouble is, it's 200 miles one way. I can take it into the big town where they will actually pay me for it, but what they pay doesn't justify the fuel it takes to get there.

So what's a guy to do?

Waste fossil fuels taking virtually worthless recyclable materials to the recycle center or put them in the garbage where they will take up finite space in the landfill?

I can't burn it. Oh no, that would pollute the air and we can't have that.

Better to pollute the air with fossil fuel exhaust driving to the recycle center.
