Sorry your logic is not consistent. I am not arguing that torture should be permitted under any circumstances or with the authrization of any individual or group. I have said so repeatedly. I have argued with the righties that I would let the whole human population perish before condoning one act of torture. You have no argument with me if it is to convince me torture is always abhorant and condemnable across time and circumstance.

"
During the Bush administration, there had beem two laws passed by Congress and a ruling by the USSC that were intended to ban waterboarding as an interrogation technique because it was considered torture. "

From your own statement (Beeming laws and such) we can conclude that this was not resolute.

The only office so far that has been given jurisdiction on the matter is the Justice Department as the lefties are now claiming with the new determination under the Obama Administration.

"Tony Fratto from the WH claimed that waterboarding was legal and that Bush could authorize the CIA to resume using waterboarding. This is after the WH's denied for years that they had authorized torture:
"

They still deny it and as the argument stands they are legally justified to do so.

"Anyone foolish enough to believe that Bush was not lying through his teeth and to defend him over this issue deserves to be snookered 24/7."

I've no way of knowing when or whether Bush lies except as facts on the ground present themselves. He doesn't even own a blue dress as far as I know.
