"Carter was more fiscally conservative than Nixon and Ford before him and Ronald Reagan after him. "

Now, now. You are challenging one of Tenchu's cherished fantasies. He works so hard to come up with them and maintain them.

Cut him some slack.

SD, > I expect fiscal responsibility from Obama. In my book that means massive deficit spending in a major contraction but not during expansion.

Obama only pledged to cut the deficit in half in ten years. Starting from a deficit of $1.8 trillion, that means in 2019 the deficit is going to be $900 billion.

Listening to Obama's own words, I don't see any pledge of "fiscal responsibility" from him, unless you think it will take ten years to return to a period of economic expansion.

You're making promises that Obama can't keep. No surprise, given that you also think Carter is a good example to use against supply-side economics.
