Well I think maybe they should just have more open cars on the freight lines. We could all sit back with the clickty clack and carve images on nickels.

Trains have been proven good for freight, yet a money pit for passengers. I would like to travel cross country by train. I just don't see it as economically competitive with air. Maybe I haven't priced it lately.

I think one of Harry Reids pork chops is a train to Nevada...Las Vegas of course.

In all seriousness, it would be nice if there were more passenger trains.

Don't say that to someone like TG.......he considers trains to be unAmerican. He prefers driving his Hemi.

But I'm not sure the US citizen would support this, and if the government pays for it it would just be handout to the few who do. This should be a capitalist venture, not a government one.

All the major train routes that are regional in this country .....like the Sounder in the PNW and the LA/San Diego route are seeing significant increases in ridership. When I first started taking the train from LA to SD, there were 3 trains per day and you could run a bowling ball down the aisle and not hit anyone. When I left LA a few years later, there were eleven trains per day and they were usually full. Now I understand there are over 22 trains per day. We are seeing similar growth in train ridership in the PNW.
