I think that the market is also gloomy about what the holy one (AG) is going to say in his message on the state of the economy (slated for Wednesday, I believe.) Greenspan has been a bit diparaging of late. No one here really knows why the US market is so upset about the currency situation in SE Asia. It almost seems to be some sort of sympathetic slide. I think Carl Johnson may have hit it right (in the latest Infrastructure Daily Note) when he observes that a lot of tech stocks had really nice runs this year, and this turmoil gives some people "an excuse" to take profits => lots of selling pressure. jess.
