You have never told us, UW. What got you to leave? Too far from old friends and family?

About 5 1/2 years ago I went to Northern Idaho to build a home and retire amoungst people who think like me. Moved in 6 months later.

About 3 years ago, I was asked to return to NC for a 2 year job. The job took six months and I did it as a volunteer so I could be in charge of my time.

Meanwhile one of my daughters and her spouse and 3 kids returned to NC from LA...so now I have all 7 grandkids within a reasonable drive and that was that.

We built a home N of Coeur d'Alene in Hayden and joined Hayden Lake CC about 5 years ago. Sold the house at a 95% premium after 30 months.

Built an industrial BLDG with office building along the Hiway 95 towards Sandpoint, and near the little Hayden airport to house a couple of businesses and a lady from LA area made a cold call, high offer so she owns it.

Also bought a 3 acre commercial corner on Government Way in the heart of Hayden, just S of the Blue Plate restaurant, to develop into a strip mall. Before breaking ground, a doctor group decided they had to own that land and they do.

Idaho be very very good to me. Since leaving I have rented a summer cabin or condo at Twin Lakes in Rathdrum for a month twice. Next time I do that it will be in Kalispell Montana. We were there for a few days last year and luved the changes. Whenever we fly out to that area we book flights to Spokane so we can see friends.

Doubt we do that this year. Accepted an offer on my house here today. Plan to move out of town and into the county on land with no restrictions, but in this area. May buy a mini farm too...pretty sure I will make an offer on that tomorrow.

Meanwhile my oldest grandson just turned 18, is on spring break, and wants to make his first skydive soon so I have some ground work to begin tomorrow. Also wants to learn how to properly shoot a few of my guns...so that needs to begin this week too.

Best decision I ever made was to retire last month. Nowadays I have no time left for work. My dad a WWII vet has gone nearly completely blind and needs help. He lives in his own home one mile away. My son has what may be an incurable disease that is becoming quite an issue. His six year old son can shoot a 22 rifle accurately and luvs to fish and so do I. They live lake front and I keep my pontoon at their dock. Will rebuild their deck and part of dock this summer.

I wake up every single day with a big smile, sip coffee and read until the sun begins to rise. Then I take it outdoors...always with the Kimber 45 or a pocket gun.
