What the hell is wrong with us anyway?

Someone sent me that video a couple of days ago. When first I glimpsed Susan I flinched and thought "My gawd what a homely woman. No wonder she's 47 and never been kissed."

I could not agree more. We expect our entertainers, especially our singers, and even more so our women singers, to be attractive. That poor woman fell out of the homely tree and hit every branch on the way down.

And I admit I prejudged her too. In fact, when I first heard her sing, I thought it was dubbed as a joke.

But in the end, her voice carried the day, and made us all a bit more receptive to, and respectful of, those who are not the Britney Spears of the world.

And I could not be happier for her. That must have rocked her world. In fact, I think that's the real appeal of the video. Here is this woman, that you assume has nothing going on in her life, and she just knocks 'em dead.
